The Consejo Argentina de Oftalmología is an organization constituted by companies, councils and associations of ophthalmology, related chairs in Public and Private Universities of the country and M.D specialists. It was founded on May 19th, 1962, and pursues social goals that promote the study and improvement of Ophthalmology, fostering scientific research.

In achieving its professional training goals, C.A.O holds teleconferences, executes agreements with universities, produces a scientific magazine and bibliographic queries – all done either face to face or on the Internet. C.A.O chose Wormhole Learning Management System for training its members. In this space they can create and manage modules of different courses and participants can have any-time access to the course material as well as virtual classes through web conference.

Likewise, in order to ease the professional activity to its members, it provides information from different channels, such as its web site, discussion lists, on-line vademecum, legal advice and degree recognition.

They also carry out activities to contribute with the community such as plans to prevent blindness produced by different kinds of illnesses and provide information on cataracts; advice or work together with different public organizations namely as  INTI and INCUCAI, take part in the “Olimpiadas Especiales” ( Special Olympics) and advice on the solidarity train.

The Consejo Argentino de Oftalmología works to develop the area of study and research and of the members engaged in the profession. Likewise, it collaborates with professionals of other disciplines such as physicians, psychologists, and social workers to offer patients access to the latest technology in the field and a better quality of life.
