Wormhole IT receives an award at the Americas Venture Capital Conference

Organized by Florida International University, this annual event presents outstanding speakers from Latin America and the United States and the latest ventures. Four awards are given at the conference and Wormhole IT was one of the recipients.

 
From November 16-18 at the Biltmore Hotel in Florida, FIU held the second edition of the Americas Venture Capital Conference, where companies from Latin America and South Florida attract cutting-edge ventures from across the continent to compete for more than $50,000 in awards and the recognition of leading investors.
 
FIU’s Pino Global Entrepreneurship Center and the College of Business Administration hosted the second annual conference: Latin America: Building on Success. Recognized in its first year for generating over $40 million in investments and fostering a unique transnational investment and networking environment, the AVCC expanded its outreach and programming for the 2011 conference. In addition to showcasing its accomplished Top Global Innovative Ventures for the first time this year the AVCC presented a group ofTop Global Emerging Ventures These are companies of potential interest to investors looking for exciting early-stage opportunities.

Wormhole ITtook theCP Capital Inflection Venture Prize. The CEO of this Argentine company,Sally Buberman, presented the firm’s business plan to over 250 participants and emphasized that"The interest that U.S. firms are showing in Latin America and emerging markets was something that we had not seen on the west coast. Companies and investors have come from all across the United States to see what Latin America has to offer.”.  
Conference participants includedWenceslao Casares(former CEO at Patagon and the current co-CEO at Lemon, Inc.) andDave Mclure (founder of the business incubator 500 Startups).Both shared their own experiences with the representatives of the participating.

During the exhibition, the Wormhole IT products attracted the interest of conference goers, who were interested in the technology of online videoconferencing that can be used for all conferencing needs and easily integrated. From companies seeking solutions for recruiting personnel in different locations to telecommunications firms and medical companies that want to improve the service they provide to their doctors, all were interested in this Argentine company that has found a niche for itself on the communications and IT market. “This was a very positive meeting that is going to bring plenty of change to our company”, added the young Argentine business woman.

All of the companies which attended the AVCC could be voted on via Facebook and thus receive the “public choice” diploma.

Presenting ventures include companies in agriculture and water quality; biotechnology, pharmaceutical and health; consumer products; energy and green technologies; entertainment; information, communication and web technologies; natural resources and education. Top Global Innovative Ventures are eligible to receive the following awards:

  • Tres Mares Innovation Prize: A cash award in the amount of $10,000 and an artistic rendition of innovation by a leading world artist valued at $5,000.
  • FedEx Access to Global Markets Prize: $10,000 in-kind services, for its commitment to global trade.
  • CP Capital Inflection Venture Prize: $10,000 in investment banking services.
  • CP Capital “People’s Choice Award”: $10,000 in investment banking services for a company that causes ripple effects of influence on people, industries and business around them.
  • Founders Network Prize: The four prize winning companies will each be awarded a complimentary year membership to the Founders Network, with a total value of over $2,000.
