Live Learning is a new concept in virtual education, focusing on interaction among participants. It has become increasingly popular in innovative companies that are looking forward to improving their training standards for their talents, salesforce and customers.
It has been some years now that distance learning is gaining momentum in Latin America along with the inclusion of technology in everyday life, from the way we relate with friends and purchases to the way we teach and learn.
The traditional approach to e-learning is changing to a new concept called Live Learning that focuses on the interchange of teachers and students through internet, going further than simply sharing contents virtually. For instance, more than 10 million students globally have taken a MOOC online course (massive open online course), but only 5% follow the designated readings, finish the exams and evaluation procedures ₂. This is a clear indicator that the trend is shifting from e-learning to Live Learning, allowing a two-way relationship among participants.
Distance learning is a way to make learning opportunities even for people who are throughout Latin America, and want to keep on with their learning process or to receive training about products and services or simply to develop new skills. Live Learning allows you to maintain training quality levels no matter if attendees are in an office in any city and the teacher is anywhere else in the world.
“The chance of having a two-way relationship with teachers makes Live Learning educational experience take all the benefits from traditional education. This allows you to have online classes during which teachers and students can see and listen to one another; clear doubts regarding the course materials, or explain the most complex concepts, the same you would do on a traditional course”, explained Sally Buberman, Wormhole CEO, the education technology company promoting Live Learning.
Live Learning is the most popular option for enterprises that want to train their staff, saving both money and commuting times. More and more CEO’s and general managers in all the world are planning to increase the budget for training, moreover, many have already or are on the way to implementing a mobile training strategy through cell phones and tablets.
According to market research the companies that have a continuous training process within their work culture are more likely to be leaders and innovators in their markets, compared to companies that don’t. Likewise, it is also a way to attract and retain talents, given the fact that 40% of human resources that don’t receive in-company training plans are thinking of changing company
Also, another clear benefit that companies developing these training processes have is that of having the chance to train all its salesforce simultaneously no matter where they are. Thus, a unified message will be delivered, allowing the company to adequate to global market possibilities, generating a dramatic and homogeneous growth in sales, widening the possibilities to compete, adapting rapidly to global changes. “Wormhole allows us to train all the insurance producers throughout the country simultaneously. From Comodoro Rivadavia to Resistencia, everyone gets the same information simultaneously, we get their feedback straight away and they can interchange experiences as producers that are replicated in all the country”, affirmed Marcel Prekajac de CNP Assurances.
On a global scale, companies in 2013 invested U$D 1195 and at least 30,3 hours yearly per employee for training through technologies. The main training areas are: processes, procedures, new products and good practices in business.
Regarding mobile education, Latin America is one of the main regions that have incorporated these technologies thanks to smart phones and tablets connected to the wireless broadband. The growth rate in this segment is 32,5% in the region
Finally, it should also be highlighted that 64% of executives that will be joining working positions, according to analysts of the sector, will fail in their tasks before a 4-year period, unless they have a training program and a clear formation that go along its organizational growth. The entrepreneurial training should be accurately monitored to analyze data and to promote improvements in the process.
